In the API 20NE system, positive for nitrate reduction; but negative for indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, urease, esculin hydrolysis, gelatin hydrolysis, and β -galactosidase. Potassium glutamate, malic acid, and phenylacetic acid are utilized as sole carbon sources; while D-glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N -acetyl- β -glucosamine, D-maltose, capric acid, adipic acid, trisodium citrate, and phenylacetic acid are not.
