In the API 20NE system, positive for esculin hydrolysis, gelatin hydrolysis, and β -galactosidase; but negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, urease, and cytochrome oxidase. D-Maltose and potassium gluconate are utilized as sole carbon sources; while D-glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-mannitol, N -acetyl-glucosamine, capric acid, adipic acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate, and phenylacetic acid are not.
