The M. crinitus View in CoL group
In M. crinitus Rathbun, 1913 View in CoL , M. darwinensis Barnes, 1971 View in CoL , and M. pacificus Dana, 1851 View in CoL ( Fig. 3C View Fig ) the front is relatively broad and unconstricted, the central region of epistome is straight, the characteristic longitudinal ridges of the branchial regions are poorly marked, and the fingers of the male chela are short, with an undeflexed index. The specimen described by Pretzmann (1974) as M. pacificus tjiljapensis View in CoL in fact belongs to M. definitus View in CoL in the other subgroup of Mareotis View in CoL .
