This genus consists of only two species— A. cappadocica and A. yassujica . Recent phylogenetic study of the genus brought an evidence of exceptionally high level of intraspecific variation among populations (recognized as distinct subspecies) of A. cappadocica ( Kapli et al. 2013) . Even more interesting was the phylogenetic position of A. yassujica which was nested within A. cappadocica urmiana as a sister group to its Iranian populations and rendering A. cappadocica paraphyletic with respect to A. yassujica .
