Syntypes. Number and sex not stated (not located in MNNC), San Cristóbal, Santiago, Chile .

Distribution. Chile: Región Metropolitana: Santiago Province (Cerro San Cristóbal).

Remarks. Philippi (1865) stated doubts on the correct generic assignation of his species; Collin (1933) indicated that this species is not Bicellaria and possibly not even a species of Empididae , and Smith (1967) also doubted the identity of this species. This species is maintained here waiting for clarification on its correct taxonomic assignment.
