Holotype. Male ( NHMUK), Puerto Blest , Lake Nahuel Huapi, Argentina.
Distribution. Argentina: Río Negro Province (Lago Nahuel Huapi, Puerto Blest). Chile: without precise locality ( Stuardo, 1946).
References. Stuardo, 1946: 105 (cat., Trichina View in CoL ); Smith, 1967: 15 (cat.); Pont, 1995: 89 (typ.); Sinclair & Cumming, 2000: 181 (tax., Neotrichina View in CoL ).
Remarks. Collin (1933) cited N. insignis from Argentina, but this locality is near the Chilean border and the species probably also occurs in Chile.
