43. Pedicularis schizorrhyncha Prain (1889: 260) View in CoL .

Protologue citation:—“EASTERN HIMALAYA : Chumbi, (Dr. King’s collectors!); Sikkim, (Jaffrey!); E. Nepal, (Mr. Pantling’s collectors!)”.

Type:— CHINA. Tibet: Chumbi, North of Zeylepla (Jelep La or Zalepla), Tang-ka-la, 16 Aug. 1882, King’s collector s.n. (lectotype K000739128!, designated here) ; isolectotypes CAL0000019004!, K000739129!).

Notes:— Pedicularis schizorrhyncha was described by Prain (1889) based on the specimens collected by Jaffrey from Sikkim, King’s collectors from Chumbi, China and Pantling’s collectors from E. Nepal. Presently, only the specimens collected by King’s collectors from Chumbi, China are found to be extant at CAL and K (CAL0000019004, K000739128 and K000739129). Earlier, the specimen K000739128 was a part of CAL0000019004 herbarium sheet, as evidenced from the notes written on both the sheets by Prain on 1 Oct. 1885. The specimen K000739128, is better preserved and is designated here as the lectotype.
