Protologue citation:—“ P. pectinata, Herb. Ind. Or. H. f. & T. (the Sikkim plant only). ALPINE SIKKIM; Samdong, alt. 15–16,000 ft., J. D. H., Elwes ”.

Type:— INDIA. Sikkim: Samdong , 16,000 ft., 11 Sept. 1849, Hook. f. s.n. (lectotype K001097546!, designated here) ; isolectotypes CAL0000018998!, K000739183!

Syntype:— INDIA. Sikkim: Alpine Sikkim, March 1877, H. J. Elwes s.n. (CAL0000018999!).

Notes:— Hooker (1884) described Pedicularis robusta based on the specimens collected by him and Elwes from Samdong, Sikkim, India. Three specimens collected by Hooker (CAL0000018998, K000739183 and K001097546) and one specimen by Elwes (CAL0000018999) from Samdong, Sikkim were traced. Of these, the better preserved specimen K001097546 from herbarium Hookerianum, is designated here as the lectotype.
