Gonionotus brussauxi Mocquard, 1889: 146 . Type locality: Loudinia-Niari , Niari River, Republic of Congo.

Simocephalus insignis Chabanaud, 1917b: 369 . Type locality: “ Congo: Ogooùé ”.
Gonionotophis brussauxi prigoginei Laurent, 1956a: 107 . Type locality: Kamituga (Kivu).
Distribution. This species ranges from Cameroon to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In Equatorial Guinea it has been recorded from Río Muni at Monte Alén National Park ( Lasso et al. 2002) ( Map 32C View MAPS 32 ).
Comments. Type species of the genus Gonionotophis .
Specimens examined. One specimen. Río Muni: Monte Alén National Park (in the EBD collection, without EBD number).
