Like Limonium but always perennial herbs; stems usually compressed; leaves coriaceous, few, in a basal rosette; spikelets with mucronate bracts; stigma capitate.

All species, except those for which another habitat is indicated, are found on steppes, dry grassland or stony hillsides.
