(22) Ceriodaphnia reticulata ( Jurine, 1820) View in CoL
Indian records. Assam —Sharma B.K. & Sharma S. (2008a, b); Andhra Pradesh — Chandrasekhar (1995, 2004a), Karuthapandi et al. (2012); Bihar — Nasar (1977), Sharma B.K. & Sharma S. (2001); Goa— Rane (2008); Jammu & Kashmir— Akthar (1972), Yousuf et al. (1984), Raina & Vass (1993), Nath (1994), Siraj et al. (2006), Akhtar et al. (2007), Sharma K.K. & Chandrakiran (2011), Sharma K.K. & Kotwal (2011); Karnataka — Kiran et al. (2007); Madhya Pradesh —Michael & Sharma B.K. (1988); Maharashtra — Rane (2002), Patil S.S. et al. (2008), Ghantaloo et al. (2011); Madhya Pradesh — Saksena et al. (1986), Mishra (2005); Meghalaya — Sharma (2010); Punjab— Battish (1983); Rajasthan — Nayar (1971), Michael & Sharma B.K. (1988), Venkataraman (1992a), Paulose & Maheswari (2008); Tamil Nadu — Mohideen et al. (2008); West Bengal — Venkataraman & Das (1993), Venkataraman (1993b, 1998c), Venkataraman et al. (2000), Mandal & Mukherjee (2011); General record— Fernando & Kanduru (1984), Sharma B.K. & Michael (1987), Murugan et al. (1998), Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2003).
Remarks. Valid species described from Switzerland ( Jurine 1820). This is a species complex, because a close species was described from Uzbekistan (see Berner & Rahmatullaeva 2001).
Distribution. Almost cosmopolitan, excluding Australia ( Smirnov et al. 1995).

Ceriodaphnia rigaudi Richard, 1894
Indian records. Asam — Biswas (1980); Bihar — Brehm (1950), Nasar (1977), Bilgrami (1991a); Delhi — Michael (1966a); Orissa — Dhua & Patra (2006); Punjab— Battish & Kumari (1986); Rajasthan — Biswas (1971), Sharma V. et al. (2008); West Bengal — Gurney (1906, 1907), Mandal (1980); South India — Brehm (1953).
Remarks. Described from Vietnam ( Richard 1894b). This "species" recently found to be a hornless form of C. cornuta (D. B. Berner, personal communication), but specimens from different continents should be investigated ( Kotov & Ferrari 2010).
Ceriodaphnia setosa Matile, 1890
Indian records. Bihar —Berhm (1953); General record— Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2003).
Remarks. Valid species described from European Russia ( Matile 1890). Indian records seem to be dubious, because C. setosa is distributed in the Palaearctic only ( Smirnov et al. 1995). Raghunathan and Suresh Kumar (2003) wrote “ Ceriodaphnia setosa Malib ”, incorrectly representing the author.
Ceriodaphnia serrata Sars, 1890
Indian records. Rajasthan — Biswas (1971), recorded as Ceriodaphnia reticulata var. serrata Sars.
Remarks. This taxon was described from Norway ( Sars 1890). Apparent junior synonym of C. reticulata ( Jurine, 1820) ( Floessner 1972) .
Daphnia ambigua Scourfield, 1947
Indian records. Rajasthan —Sharma R. et al. (2011); Sharma V. et al. (2012).
Remarks. D. ambigua was initially described from London, United Kingdom ( Scourfield 1947), but then it was found that this taxon is originally of North American origin, yet introduced in Europe ( Benzie 2005). At this stage, the Indian record seems to be very dubious. Such records should at least be accompanied by some illustrations.
