(49) Moina oryzae Hudec, 1987 View in CoL
Type locality. "Gingee (=Senji); rice field in territory of fort (Senji fort)", Tamil Nadu, India ( Hudec 1987) .
Indian records. Tamil Nadu — Hudec (1987), Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2002, 2009), Kudari et al. (2005); General record— Murugan et al. (1998), Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2003).
Remarks. Valid, original Indian species.
Distribution. Definitively known only from two localities in Tamil Nadu, India. Perhaps, the record of " M. reticulata " by Fernando & Kanduru (1984) also belongs to this taxon, but the authors did not provide their record with information on the locality in India.
Moina rectirostris ( Jurine, 1820)
Indian records. Jammu & Kashmir— Brehm (1936); Rajasthan — Biswas (1971), Sharma V. et al. (2012); Tamil Nadu — Kudari et al. (2005); General record— Fernando & Kanduru (1984); Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2003)
Remarks. " M. rectirostris " is an invalid taxon, see explanations in Goulden (1968). Moina rectirostris recorded from India belongs to Moina brachiata (see Michael & Sharma B.K. 1988)
Moina reticulata ( Daday, 1905)
Indian records. General record— Fernando & Kanduru (1984).
Remarks. M. reticulata is a valid Neotropical species described from Paraguay ( Daday 1905), but its presence in the Oriental zone is very dubious. Most probably, Fernando and Kanduru (1984) meant the later described M. oryzae Hudec, 1987 .
