(92) Kurzia (Kurzia) latissima (Kurz, 1875) s.lat.
Indian records. Madhya Pradesh — Rane (1983d); West Bengal —Sharma B.K. (1978), Michael & Sharma B.K. (1988), Chandrasekhar & Chatterjee (2002); General record— Fernando & Kanduru (1984), Sharma B.K. & Michael (1987), Murugan et al. (1998), Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2003).
Remarks. K. latissima s.str. is a valid species, widely distributed in the northern Palaearctic ( Smirnov 1971). It was demonstrated that the K. latissima- like populations from the Neotropics in fact belong to K. polyspina Hudec, 2000 , and Nearctic populations belong to K. media ( Birge, 1879) (see Hudec 2000). Michael & Sharma B.K. (1988) described K. latissima -like specimens from West Bengal; Rane (1983d) mentioned it from Madhya Pradesh; AAK saw material from Maharashtra also belonging to K. latissima s. lat. Apparently the Indian populations need to be revised, as they could belong to a taxon closely related to K. latissima s.str.
Distribution. Palaearctic and Oriental zones.
