(125) Picripleuroxus laevis (Sars, 1862) View in CoL s.lat.
Indian records. Assam —Sharma S. (2008b); Jammu & Kashmir— Subla et al. (1984), Michael & Sharma B.K. (1988); Manipur —Sharma B.K. & Sharma S. (2009a); General record— Fernando & Kanduru (1984), Sharma B.K. & Michael (1987), Murugan et al. (1998), Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2003).
Remarks. Valid species, described from Norway ( Sars 1862a). This is, most probably, also a species group.
Distribution. “Palearctic. Other records should be revised” ( Smirnov 1996). Similar forms occur in Australia ( Smirnov, 1996), Africa ( Chiambeng & Dumont 2004) and the Oriental zone ( Idris 1983; Michael & Sharma B.K. 1988; Maiphae et al. 2005). The taxon described from China, P. sinkiankensis (Chiang, 1964) , is valid ( Frey 1988b). May be, just this taxon is masked under the name P. laevis in the Oriental zone.
