Indian records. Andaman & Nicobar Islands — Venkataraman (2000a); Assam —Sharma B.K. et al. (2000); Sharma B.K. & Sharma S. (2008a, b); Jammu & Kashmir—Yousuf & Quadri (1975), Quadri & Yousuf (1977), Raina & Vass (1993), Siraj et al. (2006); Meghalaya —Sharma B.K. & Sharma (2011); Karnataka — Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2007); Kerala — Subhash Babu & Nayar (2004); Madhya Pradesh — Rane (1984d); Mharastra— Rane (2006); Manipur —Sharma B.K. & Sharma S. (2009a); Meghalaya —Michael & Sharma B.K. (1988); Mizoram —Pachnau (2008); Rajasthan — Venkataraman (1992b), West Bengal — Michael & Sharma B.K. (1988), Sharma B.K. Remarks. Valid species, described from Chile ( Vávra 1900). Probably it represents a group of cryptic species. The specimens illustrated by Michael & Sharma B.K. (1988) are not P. similis but most likely P. cf. denticulatus or P. cf. laevis , it is not clear from the illustrations.
Distribution. “South America, Central Asia, probably Australia ” ( Smirnov 1996), Oriental zone (Michael & Sharma B.K. 1988).
Picripleuroxus striatus ( Schoedler, 1862)
Indian records. Delhi — Michael (1966a); Jammu & Kashmir— Yousuf et al. (1984); General record— Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2003).
Remarks. Doubtful record. The taxon is described from Germany ( Schoedler 1862). It is distributed in Holarctic and in Africa ( Smirnov 1996).
