(110) Chydorus eurynotus View in CoL . Sars, 1901 s.lat.
Indian records. Andaman & Nicobar Islands — Venkataraman (1991b); Jammu & Kashmir— Raina & Vass (1993); Karnataka — Raghunathan (1988); Kerala — Subhash Babu & Nayar (2004); Maharashtra — Rane (2002, 2005b); Punjab— Battish (1981); Meghalaya —Sharma B.K. & Sharma S. (2011); Rajasthan — Nayar (1971), Venkataraman (1990b); Tamil Nadu — Venkataraman (1999b); Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2002, 2009); West Bengal —Venkataraman (1998c), Venkataraman et al. (2000); General record— Fernando & Kanduru (1984), Murugan et al. (1998), Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2003).
Remarks. Valid species described from Brazil ( Sars 1901). Populations from different continents should be compared for re-solving their taxonomic status ( Van Damme & Dumont 2010).
Distribution. Circumtropical ( Smirnov 1996; Van Damme & Dumont 2010), common in the Oriental zone ( Idris 1983), yet should be revised
Chydorus faviformis Birge, 1893
Indian records. Assam —Sharma B.K. & Sharma S. (2008a, b); Bihar —Sharma B.K. & Sharma S. (2001); Goa— Rane (2008); Jammu & Kashmir— Khan et al. (1978), Michael & Sharma B.K. (1988); Karnataka — Patil & Gouder (1988); Maharashtra — Rane (2004, 2006, 2009), Manipur —Sharma B.K. & Sharma S (2009a); Meghalaya — Patil & Sen (1983), Michael & Sharma B.K. (1988), Sharma B.K. & Sharma S. (1999); Rajasthan —Sharma V. et al. (2008, 2012), Sharma R. et al. (2011); Tripura — Venkataraman & Das (2000); West Bengal —Venkataraman (1998c), Venkataraman & Das (1998), Vekatraman et al. (2000). General record— Fernando & Kanduru (1984), Sharma B.K. & Michael (1987), Murugan et al. (1998), Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2003).
Remarks. Dubious record. This taxon was described from the USA ( Birge 1893). It is a valid species, distributed in North America ( Smirnov 1996), while in the Oriental zone and closest vicinities there is a group of similar, honeycombed species that could be confused with C. faviformis : C. obscurirostris tasekberae Frey, 1987 from Malaysia, Cambodia and Thailand, C. sinensis Frey, 1987 from China, C. opacus from Australia, Thailand and C. angustirostris Frey, 1987 from India ( Frey 1987b; Maiphae et al. 2005, 2008; Tanaka & Ohtaka 2010). C. obscurirostris obscurirostris Frey, 1987 , initially described as an Australian endemic, is also found in Thailand ( Maiphae et al. 2005). Without illustrations and descriptions, we have no chance to understand which taxon the Indian authors meant.
Indian records. Maharashtra — Rane (2006); Rajasthan —Sharma V. et al. (2008, 2012), Sharma R et al. (2011); General record— Fernando & Kanduru (1984).
Remarks. Dubious record. This taxon was described from Norway ( Sars 1890). It is a valid Palaearctic taxon ( Smirnov 1996) and its presence in India is highly unlikely.

Chydorus herrmanni Brehm, 1933
Indian records. Kerala —Michael & Sharma B.K. (1988); Tamil Nadu —Michael & Sharma B.K. (1988), Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2002, 2009); General record— Sharma B.K. & Michael (1987), Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2003).
Remarks. C. herrmanni Brehm, 1933 was described from Java ( Brehm 1933a). This is an incerta sedis and a member of the C. sphaericus group ( Smirnov 1996).
