Known distribution. Brazil (Amazonas, Pará), Colombia, Ecuador, Peru ( Hurd 1978: 68). Type locality: “Para” ( Smith 1874: 291).

Material examined. Brazil: Amazonas: Benjamin Constant, VIII.1956, I. C. Lima (2 ♀) , IX.1956, I. C. Lima (2 ♀) , Manaus, VIII.1959 , Ellas (1 female) , Tabatinga, X.1958, F. M. Oliveira (1 ♀) , III.1959, F. M. Oliveira (2 ♀, 1 ♂) , Tefé, VIII.1959, R. Carvalho (1 ♀) , XI.1959, R. Carvalho (6 ♀) , XII.1959, R. Carvalho (6 ♀) , 1-4.XII.1961, F. M. Notes. Females of this species are similar to those of X. (N.) aurulenta but can be readily distinguished by the presence of orange pubescence on the first metasomal tergite, as described in the key.
