Figs. 3, 4 View FIGURES 1–6 , 8 View FIGURES 7–9
Sosibia Fruhstorfer, 1914: 75 View in CoL (junior homonym of Sosibia Stål, 1875: 42 View in CoL ( Phasmatodea View in CoL , Lonchodidae View in CoL )).
Type species: Taxila burnii Nicéville, 1895 , fixed through Art. 67.8 of the Code ( ICZN 1999).
Diagnosis. Externally, Sibosia can be easily distinguished from Abisara ( Figs. 5, 6 View FIGURES 1–6 , 9 View FIGURES 7–9 ) by the discal and postdiscal bands on the forewing underside represented by short and discontinuous white short lines or dots and the absence of the tail-like projection on the hindwing, while in Abisara those bands on the forewing underside are narrow and continuous. In male genitalia, Sibosia can be distinguished from Abisara by lacking the external process on valvae. In general appearance Sibosia is also reminiscent of Taxila but can be readily distinguished from the latter by the ill-developed black spots proximal to the white spots on the forewing underside and the valvae without the inner basal process in the male genitalia.
Etymology. The name Sibosia is an anagram of the generic name Sosibia , its gender is feminine.
Species composition.
