Description. Male. Body small and slender. Head rather short, frontal rostrum nearly as wide as scapus; median ocellus small and transverse oval, lateral ocelli large and nearly round; eyes oval and distinctly projecting; apical joint of maxillary palpus distinctly widened and sloped at apex, nearly as long as third joint; apical joint of labial palpus slightly widened, nearly as long as second joint. Pronotum distinctly wider than long, disc with a pair of nearly triangular impressions; anterior margin straight, posterior margin sinuate and slightly protruding around midway; lateral lobes longer than high, anterior lower angles widely rounded, posterior lower angles narrowly rounded, lower margin straight. Tegmina slightly extending over apex of abdomen, dorsal area with 4 longitudinal veins; hind wings distinctly longer than tegmina. Fore tibia with a large and oblong internal tympanum, nearly as long as half length of tibia, without external tympanum. Hind tibia with 3 long spines along either margin of apical part of dorsal side, and several small spines on basal part, of which 1-2 along outer margin and 0-1 along inner margin. Abdominal tergite I with a pair of medium-sized swellings, II with a large swelling in centre and inclined forwards ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 15 – 20 ).
Supra-anal plate distinctly wider than long, slightly narrowed posteriorly; dorsal area densely covered with short setae in both sides of centre; posterior margin arcuately emarginated in middle ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 15 – 20 ). Subgenital plate moderately long, slightly narrowed posteriorly, with posterior margin slightly emarginated in middle ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 15 – 20 ). Genitalia ( Figs 18–20 View FIGURES 15 – 20 ): epiphallus rather short; medial lobes of epiphallus large sac-like, with a pair of small, long acute teeth at bases; lateral lobes of epiphallus rather thin, acute at apex; epiphallus parameres rather long, blunt at apex, covered with several long hairs; ectophallus parameres rather short, reaching middle of epiphallus parameres, acute at apex.
Female. Unknown.
Coloration. Body brown. Antennae yellow at bases, other parts mixed brown with white. Tegmina light brown, each transverse vein surrounded by a small irregular brown spot; lateral field brown. Legs yellow brown, brown at apex and dorsal side of femora.
Diagnosis. This new species is related to P. birmanus Chopard , but can be distinguished by posterior margin of supra-anal plate arcuately emarginated in middle; genitalia differently shaped, lateral lobes of epiphallus rather thin, acute at apex; ectophallus parameres acute at apex.
Measurements (mm). Male: body 9.0–10.0, length with wings 13.5–14.5, pronotum 1.5–1.8, tegmen 7.8–8.1, hind femur 6.0–6.5.
Type material examined. Holotype ♂, CHINA, Guangxi, Rongshui, Mt. Jiuwan, 1.VIII.2008, leg. Fu-Ming Shi and Shao-Li Mao. Paratype: 1♂, CHINA, Jiangxi, Longnan, Mt. Jiulian, 21.VII.2008, leg. Fu-Ming Shi and Ming Qiu.
Distribution. China (Guangxi, Jiangxi).
Etymology. This new specific name is derived from the Latin “ emarginatus ” (concave), a reference to supraanal plate and subgenital plate both slightly emarginated in middle of posterior margins.
