Coptocheilus chinensis ( Pfeiffer, 1857) View in CoL 中华裂唇螺
Hydrocena chinensis Pfeiffer, 1857: 112 .; ( Figure 4 View Figure 4 ) Schistoloma chinensis – Yen 1942: 188. Pl. 13/30.
Type locality. ‘China’
Material examined. NHMUK 20200002 About NHMUK /2 China . ex. Mus. Cuming. (Syntypes of Hydrocena chinensis Pfeiffer, 1857 ).
Remarks. Yen (1941, 1942) first treated this species as a ‘ Schistoloma ’ and considered it as a juvenile of Bornean Coptocheilus anostoma ( Benson, 1852) with erratic locality information. But given that Coptocheilus species are reliably found in China, this species may be native to China. The two type specimens of C. chinensis contain only the upper part of the shells, which are morphologically similar to C. longyanensis by both having a wider shell and smooth surface, but the former has a more pointed apex. Also, the larger fragment of C. chinensis already has 6.25 whorls, which is the usual whorl number of a mature C. longyanensis .
