Synonym: Pimpla mediator Fabricius, 1804 ( Horstmann 1982: 236) .
The species is widely distributed in the Palaearctic region being known from Western Europe, Turkey and Iran to Russian Far East and the Palaearctic part of China ( Yu et al. 2016), and in the Nearctic region P. scurra is widespread in Canada and USA (including Alaska, southwards to California, Arizona and New Mexico) ( Townes & Townes 1960: 210–214).
Samples of P. scurra from Europe (Leningrad Prov., Russia) have been examined. Females have second tergite with a distinct median longitudinal keel anteriorly ( Varga 2018: 239; Fitton et al. 1988: 86, 87), very long ovipositor and dirty red hind tibia.
Distribution. Holarctic species; unknown from Mexico.
