HOLOTYPE: AMNH 7672 , adult male, collected on New Caledonia. From the Verreaux Collection (no. 2600).

COMMENTS: Elliot had a single specimen and described both the genus and species as new. The specimen was among those Elliot selected from the Verreaux Collection to purchase for the newly founded AMNH, and the number ‘‘2600’’ on the round label pasted to the type label is apparently a number from that collection. It was formerly mounted and is illustrated in plate 19 of the original description.
