HOLOTYPE: AMNH 601641 , unsexed [female], collected in the Rawlinson Mountains, 1250 m, 06.30S, 147.15 E ( Papua New Guinea, 1984), Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea, on 10 October 1911, by Christian Keysser (no. 7). From the Rothschild Collection.

COMMENTS: Stresemann, in his original description, said that the type was in the Rothschild Collection. In their description of Sericornis arfakiana oorti (see above), Rothschild and Hartert noted that they had received a single specimen from the Rawlinson Mountains but were unable to place it in a subspecies. It is this specimen that Stresemann later named.
