HOLOTYPE: AMNH 649477 About AMNH , adult male, collected at Silwa , Kaimosi, 00.08N, 34.47E ( Chapin 1954: 671), Kenya, on 25 May 1922, by a collector for V.G.L. van Someren. From the Rothschild Collection. GoogleMaps

COMMENTS: Hartert and van Someren had a single specimen. Traylor (1986: 290) included this species in Platysteira and recognized P. c. silvae.
