Type locality. China, Yunnan province, Gaoligongshan mts., 25°22ˏN 98°49ˏE, 1500–2500 m a.s.l.

Type material. Holotype, male ( NHMB), “[ China], YUNNAN [province], GAOLIGONG[shan] mts., 25 22N 98 49E, 1500–2500 m, 17–24/5 1995, Vít Kubáň leg. [white label, printed]”. Paratype ( NMPC), male, same label data.

Male. Eyes large and strongly protruding, head across eyes slightly narrower than pronotum, lateral sides of head behind eyes straight, strongly converging posteriorly. Antennae reaching ca five sixths of elytral length, antennomeres 4–10 with longitudinal semilustrous impression. Surface of head very finely imbricate-punctate with fine, sparse, semirecumbent, long yellow pubescence, matt. Pronotum ca as long as wide, anterior margin together with anterior corners rounded, lateral margins moderately convex, posterior corners obtuse, rounded, posterior margin moderately convex. Surface of pronotum punctate and pubescent like that of head, matt. Outer claws of all legs with basal rounded appendage. Elytra parallel-sided, elytral venation not developed. Surface of elytra very finely rugulose-lacunose, with shorter, sparse, fine, yellow semirecumbent pubescence combined with much sparser, brown, erect setae, matt almost velvety. Aedeagus as in Figs. 119–121 View FIGURES 114 – 121. 114 .

Female unknown.

Length (male). 10.2–10.5 mm.

Differential diagnosis. Prothemus blankae sp. nov. is similar to Prothemus chinensis Wittmer, 1987 and Prothemus monochrous (Fairmaire, 1900) , both from China, in its coloration and the shape of the aedeagus. It differs from them by the inner portion of the inner projections of dorsal part of the aedeagus, which is not concave, and by the apically arcuate parameres in ventral view. The laterophyses of P. blankae sp. nov. are more similar to those of P. monochrous (cf. Wittmer 1987).

Etymology. Patronymic, dedicated to wife of the collector, Blanka Kubáňová (Šlapanice, Czech Republic). Distribution. China: Yunnan province.
