Meso- and metasternum terracotta, ventral side of abdomen sepia, sternites yellow bordered. Femora terracotta, tibiae and tarsi sepia. Surface of head very finely imbricate-punctate, with fine, long, recumbent yellow pubescence, matt. Pronotum as long as wide, anterior margin strongly convex, anterior corners indistinct, rounded, lateral margins slightly convex, posterior corners somewhat more distinct than anterior, rounded, posterior margin convex. Female unknown.

Length (male). 13.7 mm.

Differential diagnosis. Prothemus kubani sp. nov. is according to the shape of central portion of dorsal part of the aedeagus similar to Prothemus opacipennis (Pic, 1906) (Yunnan) , from which it differs by antennomeres without impressions, wider laterophyses, longer parameres and narrower preapical portions of lateral sides of dorsal part of the aedeagus (cf. Wittmer 1987 and Figs. 114–117 View FIGURES 114 – 121. 114 ).

Etymology. Patronymic, dedicated to its collector, Vítĕzslav Kubáň (NMPC).

Distribution. China: Yunnan province.
