TYPE LOCALITY: Indonesia, West Sumatra .
DISTRIBUTION: Malay Peninsula from the Mudah and Thepha rivers on the N. to the Perak and Kelanton rivers on the S.; Sumatra, S. E. of Lake Toba and the Singkil River; Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo) between the Kapuas and Barito rivers.
COMMENT: Possibly conspecific with lar (CPG) .
PROTECTED STATUS: CITES - Appendix I as Hylobates spp. and U.S. ESA - Endangered as Hylobates spp. (including Nomascus spp. ).
