COMMENT: Includes Mandrillus ; see Dandelot, 1974, Part 3:9. CAH and PG consider Mandrillus a distinct genus. In view of intergradation data, it might be preferable to combine most of the species in this genus (except leucophaeus and sphinx ); see Thorington and Groves, 1970:639 (CPG). Includes Chaeropithecus as a subgenus; see Szalay and Delson, 1979:403. Van Gelder, 1977, Am. Mus. Novit., 2635:8 included Papio in Cercopithecus . For authorship of generic name, see Delson and Napier, 1976, Bull. Zool. Nomenci., 33:46.
