TYPE LOCALITY: Equatorial Guinea, Bioko .
DISTRIBUTION: Congo Republic; Bioko; Zaire; W. Uganda; W. and S.E. Tanzania; Zanzibar.
COMMENT: Subgenus Poliocolobus; includes bouvieri, foai, oustaleti, tephrosceles, gordonorum, kirki, ellioti and tholloni; but also see Rahm, 1970:589-626, who considered this species a subspecies of badins, and Dandelot, 1974, Part 3:35, who considered kirki a distinct species.
PROTECTED STATUS: CITES - Appendix II as Order Primates .
CITES - Appendix II as C. badius gordonorum.
CITES - Appendix I as C. badius kirkii (sic) and U.S. ESA - Endangered as C. kirkii (sic).
