TYPE LOCALITY: Angola .

DISTRIBUTION: Angola; S.W. Zaire.

COMMENT: Subgenus Miopithecus ; see Szalay and Delson, 1979, but also see Groves, 1978, Primates , 19:1 -34. A second species of Miopithecus , described by Machado, 1969, Publ. Cult. Comp. Diamantes Angola, 46:146- 154, has not yet been named; its distribution is Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, and Cameroun (CPG).

PROTECTED STATUS: CITES - Appendix II as Order Primates .
