DISTRIBUTION: S.E. Nigeria, Cameroun, Congo Republic, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, N.E. Angola, Central African Republic, Zaire, W. Uganda, Burundi; W. Kenya; W. Tanzania.
COMMENT: Type of subgenus Lophocebus ; includes aterrimus and opdenboschi; see Groves, 1978, Primates , 19:1 -34, but see also Szalay and Delson, 1979.
PROTECTED STATUS: CITES - Appendix II as Order Primates .
