TYPE LOCALITY: Brazil, Amazonas, Tefe (south bank of Solimoes River) .

DISTRIBUTION: South bank of Amazon, between lower Jurua and lower Purus rivers.

COMMENT: Separated from monachus by Hershkovitz, 1979, Folia Primatol., 31:1 -22.

PROTECTED STATUS: CITES - Appendix II as Order Primates .
