TYPE LOCALITY: Brazil, Amazonas, Rio Solimoes below Tabatinga .
DISTRIBUTION: From Andean slopes in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, to west bank of Rio Tapajoz and Rio Negro ( Brazil).
COMMENT: Separated from monachus by Hershkovitz, 1979, Folia Primatol., 31:1 -22.
PROTECTED STATUS: CITES - Appendix II as Order Primates .
