Psalmopoeinae Samm and Schmidt, 2010: 36.
Diagnosis. Males and females with scopula of tarsi and metatarsi laterally extended, giving a spatulate appearance, in conjunction with anterior row of eyes straight or slightly procurve and 1 to 3 distal spines ventrally on tibiae and/or metatarsi III and IV.
Genera included. Tapinauchenius Ausserer, 1871 , Ephebopus Simon, 1892 , Psalmopoeus Pocock, 1895 , and Amazonius n. gen.
Distribution. Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Peru and Venezuela ( Figs 21–23 View FIGURES 21–23. 21 , 145 View FIGURE 145 , 311 View FIGURE 311 ).
