Tripogon jacquemontii Stapf (1892: 85) View in CoL .
Lectotype (designated here): –– INDIA, Poona , 09 February 1892, Jacquemont 320 ( K barcode K000245018 !, isolectotype K barcode K000245017 !), Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 .
Notes:–– Stapf (1892) described Tripogon jacquemontii based on specimens collected from India, Western Ghats to Bengal. He cited four specimens “ India, from the Western Ghats to Bengal: Bombay Presidency, Lisboa, G.M. Woodrow, 79; Poona Jacquemont, 320 bis; Sholapur, Herb. Munro; Bengal, Griffith, Kew Distr., No. 6636” simultaneously in the protolouge. Subsequent to Stapf’s description of T. jacquemontii , no authors have tried to designate a type for the name of the species. While searching for the original specimens in various herbaria (B, BLAT, BSI, BSID, C, CAL, CALI, K, MH, P, RHT, W), we traced seven sheets at K herbarium (K000245017!, K000245018!, K000245019!, K000245020!, K000907438!, K000907439!, K0000 7 440!). All the sheets except K000907440 have pencil writing as ‘ type! ’. However, the one sheet Jacquemont 320 (K000245018) with the drawings of the dissected floral part being a well preserved specimen matching exactly with the protologue is designated here as the lectotype.
