Comments: Original drawing of male midleg ( Zumpt, 1962: Pl. 4, fig. 1) shows a characteristic ctenidium consisting of thick spine-liked bristles in distal part of tibia. This is an autapomorphic feature of Xerophilomyia ; thus, Apodacra greatheadi belongs to this genus.

Comments: In firstly recorded male f 2 with ctenidium consisted of long and widened a; t 2 with ctenidium at upper and lower surfaces in apical half; 1st tarsomere of fore tarsi very widened. As a rule 2–3 pairs of vibrissae, occasionally 1 pair. Body length 4.5–8.0 mm.
