Description of the first female. Head and thoracic maculation very similar to that of male, abdominal yellow stripes or spots larger than in male. Wings differs from those of male by large basal brown spots and absence of brown spots at the tip.

Head. Head fundamentally black with yellow markings ( Fig. 12 View FIGURE 12 – 14 ). Eyes in living individual yellowish green ( Figs. 21–22 View FIGURE 21 – 24 ). Labium pale brownish yellow. Labrum black with pair of yellow spots forming “V” shape, sometimes connected at lower ends. Anteclypeus brown with lower margin yellow, postclypeus mostly yellowish. Frons protruded frontally, ridge of antefrons with slim yellow band. Vertex and occiput black, vertex protruded beyond level of lateral ocelli.

Thorax. Prothorax largely black with lateral edge yellow, anterior edge of frontal lobe and hind edge of hind lobe with one pair of yellowish spots, middle lobe with very small paired yellow spots dorsally. Synthorax black with yellow markings as follows ( Figs. 21–22 View FIGURE 21 – 24 ): antehumeral stripe, expanded toward dorsal apex; humeral stripe about 1.0–1.5 times as broad as antehumeral, metepisternum with very broad stripe, lower edge of metepimeron yellow. Legs black except for coxae with yellow stripes.

Wings. Wings almost hyaline, with base tinted with large brown spots ( Fig. 21 View FIGURE 21 – 24 ). Median space with 2 crossveins in all wings. Triangles 3–4-celled in fore wings and 4–6-celled in hind wings. Anal loop 16–23-celled. Fore wings with 23–27 antenodal crossweins, 14–16 postnodal crossveins; hind wings with 18–22 antenodal crossweins, 16–19 postnodal crossweins. Pterostigma black, 6.0 mm in fore wings and 6.5 mm in hing wings, covering 4–5 cells.

Abdomen. Abdomen black with yellow markings as follows ( Figs. 21–22 View FIGURE 21 – 24 ): S1 with dorsal spot and lateral spot; S2 with very large lateral spot, trapeziform and connecting with lateral spot of S1; dorsum of S2 with very large water-drop-shaped spot, followed by linear stripe along dorsal carina; S3–7 with paired anterior spots dorsally, gradually sunk toward tip. Lower edge of S3–7 with fine pale yellow bands. Very small rounded spot on anterodorsal margin of S8 sometimes present. S9–10 black. Cerci short, about 1/3 length of S10. Vulvar lamina shown in Figs. 13–14 View FIGURE 12 – 14 .

Measurements (mm). Female: total length 74.0–79.0, abdomen (including anal appendages) 56.5–60.0, hind wing 53.0–56.0.

Notes. The species is recorded from China based on a male specimen reared from larva. During field work in 2012 (April) and 2013 (April to June) the adults were collected ( Figs. 21–24 View FIGURE 21 – 24 ). They were seen from several lowland streams (altitude 200–700 m) in Xishuangbanna, southern Yunnan province. Males were very active in the morning between 09:00h and 11:00h, when they approached water, holding territory over very narrow and shallow streams in very slow flight, about 1.5–2.5 m above water. Oviposition was seen from morning to afternoon, females flying very low, about 0.5 m above streams and dropping eggs at the edge or in very shallow parts of the stream. Foraging was seen very early in the morning and at twilight, both sexes gathered together in the very open area of forest, over 6 m above ground.

Distribution. China (Dai Autonomous Prefecture of Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province), Laos and Thailand.
