Diagnosis. “Simple parallegram-shaped paracercus, the aedeagus with its slender, narrow dorsal process and the didactylate claspers, this species does not fit into any described groups” (Denning in Denning & Sykora 1968, p. 172). Contrary to Denning’s statement, this species belongs to the A. (Atopsaura) longipennis Group. Its male is similar to those of A. (Atopsaura) serica Ross 1953 and A. (Atopsaura) huanapu Schmid 1989 in the tall and apically truncate parapods. Moreover, A. (Atopsaura) usingeri can be separated from the other species by the narrow segment IX, clavate filopods, and the short dorsal projection in the phallic apparatus, lateral view. Here we redescribed this species because the original descriptions of the preanal appendages, the apicomesal projection of each inferior appendage, and the dorsal process of the phallic apparatus are not accurate. The preanal appendages, in lateral view, are broader and more rounded than in the original description ( Fig. 7A View FIGURE 7 ). The inferior appendages are thicker; each has the first article, its dorsomesal projection, and its second article thicker in lateral and ventral views ( Figs. 7A, 7B View FIGURE 7 ). In the phallic apparatus, the phallotheca is shorter and broader anteriorly than in the original description and each of the rounded “beaks” has a shorter posterodorsal process in lateral view ( Fig. 7C View FIGURE 7 ); furthermore, the short and slightly upcurved aedeagus, seen here in lateral and dorsal views ( Figs. 7C, 7D View FIGURE 7 ), was omitted from the original description.

Redescription. Genitalia. Segment IX tall, longitudinally short, anterior and posterior margins sinuous in lateral view ( Fig. 7A View FIGURE 7 ). Proctiger slender, constricted basally, covered by minute setae in lateral view ( Fig. 7A View FIGURE 7 ). Parapods vertically tall, truncate apically, each with apical margin slightly undulate and with apicodorsal point in lateral view ( Fig. 7A View FIGURE 7 ). Filipods longer than parapods, thicker apically in lateral view ( Fig. 7A View FIGURE 7 ). Inferior appendages each with first article uniformly thick, each with apicomesal projection almost as long and about half as thick as second article, its apex acute, downcurved in lateral and ventral views ( Figs. 7A, 7B View FIGURE 7 ). Phallic apparatus complex ( Figs. 7C, 7D View FIGURE 7 ); phallotheca tall in anterior 2/3, its “beaks” apically blunt; broad posterodorsal process membranous basally in lateral view ( Fig. 7C View FIGURE 7 ), “beaks” slender and dorsal process broad in dorsal view ( Fig. 7D View FIGURE 7 ); aedeagus short and slightly upcurved ( Fig. 7C View FIGURE 7 ).
