Diagnosis. Posterolateral angles of pronotum well marked; elytra covered with dense but small punctures; processes of trigonium shorter than pala, curved, with ca. 15 denticles on its outer margin, gradually narrowing till apices.
Description. Male. Body moderately large (TL 6.5–8.0 mm), elongate (TL/EW 1.7), widest in the middle of elytra, moderately convex. Colouration chestnut brown. Head ca. 1.5× wider than interocular space, convex, densely covered with strong, granulate punctation, punctures separated by 0.3–0.5× diameter of a puncture; eyes moderately large, protuberant. Pronotum transverse (PW/PL 2.0), covered with dense (separated by 0.3–0.5× diameter of a puncture) and strongly granulate punctures on sides and more sparse punctures on central portion, lateral carinae of pronotum rounded, posterolateral angles well marked, anterolateral angles subtriangular. Elytra long, ca. 4× longer than pronotum, 1.5× wider than pronotum; punctation irregular, sparse, separated by ca. the diameter of a puncture. Aedeagus symmetrical, penis ( Fig. 16B View FIGURE 16 ) large (L 1.70 mm, W 0.67 mm), dorsoventrally flattened; trigonium bifid, each process of trigonium curved, with ca. 15 denticles on margin; parameroids subtriangular, narrowed in apical portion, as long as processes of trigonium. Tegmen ( Fig. 16C – D View FIGURE 16 ) large (L 1.77 mm, W 1.03 mm), subrectangular, with small, subtriangular lateral processes each with two denticles at apex; ventral processes wide, each with two lobes (large subtriangular and small suboval one); parameres digitiform, without distinct setation. Sternite VIII ( Fig. 16E View FIGURE 16 ) (L 0.70 mm, W 1.0 mm) widely v-shaped, with sparse setation at apex; sternite IX ( Fig. 16F View FIGURE 16 ) (L 1.0 mm, W 0.80 mm) oval, consisting of two subtriangular hemisternites, apical portion covered with dense setae. Tergite VIII ( Fig. 16G View FIGURE 16 ) (L 1.17 mm, W 1.10 mm) with apodemes shorter than apical plate, apical plate subtrapezoidal, apical margin rounded, with sparse setae. Tergite IX ( Fig. 16H View FIGURE 16 ) (L 0.93 mm, W 0.73 mm) with short apodemes, apical portion membranous, setation indistinct.
Female. Unknown.
Measurements and ratios. Males (n = 10) TL 6.50–8.0 mm (7.46 mm), PL 1.1–1.9 mm (1.44 mm), PW 2.5–3.3 mm (2.86 mm), EL 5.5–6.6 mm (6.24 mm), EW 3.8–4.7 mm (4.83 mm), TL/EW 1.70–1.83 (1.71), PW/PL 1.74–2.27 (2.0), EL/EW 1.38–1.55 (1.42), EL/PL 3.42–5.0 (4.21), EW/PW 1.42–1.52 (1.47).
Distribution. A rare species, known from numerous collections from the Oncol Park (Los Ríos region) and two distant localities in regions Los Lagos and Aysén of Chile ( Fig. 24 View FIGURE 24 ).
Biology. Most specimens were collected in Valdivian temperate forests with predominating Aextoxicon punctatum Ruiz & Pav. and Sexegothaea conspicua .
Etymology. Referring to the area inhabited by the species—Patagonia.
