Holotype major worker, Salahuddin ad Erbil, Iraq ( MZPW) [Holotype worker images examined, AntWeb, CASENT0917222, photos by Kate Martynova, available on AntWeb.org].

Diagnosis. Hind tibia and scape with decumbent to suberect pilosity and additional erect setae; gena with numerous erect setae; head, mesosoma and gaster brownish-black to black, legs in major and minor workers mostly brownish-black only coxa yellowish to yellowish brown, scape and first segment of funiculus black, remaining segments of funiculus yellowish; pilosity on gaster dense.

Distribution. Iraq ( Pisarski 1971, Radchenko 1996).

Biology. Camponotus riedeli is poorly known. Workers were collected on slopes of limestone hills ( Pisarski 1971).
