Global distribution: NT.
Argentinian distribution: Catamarca.
Ecology: This species was recorded from a stream and a shallow lake with macrophytes. These environments are located at high altitude (above 4200 m a.s.l.), with water temperature values between 14.7 and 17°C, and electrical conductivity values ranging from 514 to 1410 mS/cm.

Remarks: This species has been previously included in the Cypridinae subfamily ( Díaz & Lopretto 2009), however, Meisch et al. (2019) mentioned this genus in an “uncertain subfamily”.
