Bythinella charpentieri (Roth, 1855) View in CoL

Fig. 1 View Figure 1

Material examined: 15 specimens from the type locality: spring near the old Monastery in Kaissariani , Hymettos Mt., Attica, Greece .

Description: The penis and the penial appendix are broader than usual in Bythinella . The tubular gland is proximally very thin but regularly thick from the second third part to the distal end of the gland.

Distribution: Greece; nly known from the type locality.

Habitat: The species lives in water coming from a spring ( Fig. 2 View Figure 2 ) just outside of the old Monastery in Kaissariani , at the foothils of Hymettos , Attica, Greece. The spot is quite small and the water is unsuitable for drinking. It also has a sulfur-like odour, which can discourage human interventions of any type. We suggest that no cleaning action should be done there (wiping the stone or collecting the rotten leaves), because this can badly affect the species population .
