Paratypes 3 ♂, 1 ♀ [immature specimens]: data as the holotype ( MNHUB, 1 ♂ - cS). All paratypes with my additional label : ‘ Paratype | Lesteva (s.str.) frischi sp.n. | A.V.Shavrin des. 2014’ <red rectangular label, printed>.
Description. Measurements (n=5): WH: 0.75–0.9; LH: 0.5–0.55; LA: 2.1; LE: 0.25; LT: 0.1; LP: 0.75–0.8; WPmax: 0.85–0.9; WPmin: 0.6–0.65; LES: 1.3–1.6; WE: 1.35–1.5; WA(IV): 1.3–1.4; LAE: 0.74; TL: 4.1–4.3.
Holotype: forebody, abdomen, femora, antennomeres II and III black; tibiae, antennomeres III–XI, ocelli, mouthparts and apical margin of tergite VIII brown, base of antennomeres I–III and tarsi yellowish brown. Immature paratypes paler: head, pronotum and abdomen brown; elytra, legs, antennae and mouthparts yellow brown; elytral surface near scutellum slightly darker. Pubescence (holotype) of forebody decumbent, moderately long, yellow; pubescence of abdomen short, sparse, tender and decumbent. Head with moderately flat frons and vertex, 1.6−1.8 times as wide as long, with large moderately prominent eyes; eyes more than two times as long as temples; ocelli indistinct, relatively small; distance between ocelli slightly shorter than the distance between ocellus and posterior margin of eye. Punctation deep, regular, denser on infraorbital ridges; interspaces between punctures without microsculpture, glossy. Antennae long ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 4–11 ), reaching anterior third of elytra; measurements of antennomeres (holotype): I: 0.2 × 0.1; II: 0.162 × 0.075; III−IV: 0.175 × 0.085; V−IX: 0.19 × 0.083; X: 0.175 × 0.09; XI: 0.25 × 0.09. Pronotum small, moderately convex and transverse, 1.4−1.5 times longer than head, widest in anterior third, without visible discal impressions. Punctation dense, deeper and coarser than that on head, regular; interspaces between punctures as diameter of half or one puncture, without microsculpture, glossy. Scutellum with several coarse punctures; interspaces between punctures without microsculpture. Elytra long, approximately two times longer than pronotum, moderately convex, hind margins slightly rounded. Punctation denser and coarser than that on pronotum, punctures larger; interspaces between punctures as the diameter of onetwo punctures, without microsculpture, glossy. Wings fully developed. Tarsomere I of metatarsus shorter than combine length of tarsomeres II−III, approximately as long as tarsomere V. Abdomen convex, slightly narrower than elytra; abdominal tergites with fine indistinct punctation and with isodiametric microsculpture; abdominal tergite V−VI with paired tomentose spots, tomentose spots on abdominal tergite V larger.
Male. Protarsi with dilated tarsomeres I−IV. Sternite VIII with emarginate posterior margin. Median lobe of aedeagus ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 30–32 ) in apical third gradually tapering towards apex; parameres longer than apex of aedeagus; endophallus with long parallel sclerotized structures in apical third. Female. Protarsi without dilated tarsomeres. Sternite VIII with straight posterior margin.
Comparative notes. Based on the long antennomeres, the finer punctation of head and pronotum and in the coloration of forebody, L. frischi sp.n. is closely related to L. luctuosa Fauvel, 1869 , from which it differs by the paler antennomeres and tibiae ( L. luctuosa entirely black, only tarsi red yellow) and by the shape of the aedeagus. Based on coloration and the shape of antennomeres, new species is similar to L. morvani , from which it differs by the smaller body, by denser and smaller punctation of head and abdomen, by the longer and narrower aedeagus.
Etymology. The species is dedicated to my colleague and staphylinidologist Johannes Frisch (Berlin), one of the collectors of the type series.
Remarks. The species was collected together with L. longoelytrata longoelytrata and L. binotata .
