Differential diagnosis. Besides its characteristic marmorated pattern, N. marmoratus can be distinguished from N. herczeki and N. pallgergelyi spp. nov. based on the unarmed margin of sutures of abdominal tergites III– V (shared synapomorphy with N. webbi sp. nov.), and from all other Nannogermalus species by the trifurcate carina of scutellum interrupted by punctures medially (in other species trifurcate carina is always complete and uninterrupted).

Distribution. Individuals known to the author were collected in an unknown location (“Rhoo”) next to the Houaïlou River, in Ouinné and on Mont Mou.

Note. The present study revealed that the individuals collected in the upper reaches of the Houaïlou River (= Up. Houadou R.) are not belonging to N. marmoratus , i.e., the differences displayed by them are not cases of phenotypic manifestation of intraspecific genotypic variance. Instead, these specimens belong to a separate species which is now described below under the name Nannogermalus webbi sp. nov. The specimens with localities “Rhoo”, Mont Mou and Ouinné correspond to the description of N. marmoratus .
