Occurs widely in tropical areas of the Americas (including the Lesser Antilles), Africa and Asia; polyphagous, feeding on plants belonging to 12 families; a serious pest of cassava. Recorded from Saint Lucia by Woodruff et al. (1998) and Malumphy (2012).
