TABLE 1. — Selected measurements (in mm) and length/height ratio of Frigidocardium valdentatum n. sp. Abbreviations: lv, left valve; rv, right valve; sv, single valve.
DESCRIPTION
Shell equivalve, large-sized for the genus (up to 27.5 mm in height), inflated, slightly higher than long (length/height ratio 0.92 to 0.98), roundedsubquadrate and somewhat asymmetrical in outline, rather thin but solid. Umbones prosogyrate, prominent, situated in front of mid-length of valves. Anterodorsal margin widely convex, decidedly slanted forward.Anterior margin regularly rounded, joining without discontinuity the distinctly convex ventral margin, giving a semicircular outline to the anterior half of shell. Posterior margin truncate and straightish, higher than the anterior margin, forming a rounded angle with both posterodorsal and ventral margins. Posterodorsal margin elongate, feebly convex, becoming rounder posteriorly.
