Specimens examined. Six males, 4 females, Mandabaru, Yonaguni Island , Okinawa Prefecture, 24°27'13"N, 122°57'30"E, 100 m elevation, litter from an evergreen broad-leaved forest, 21-V-2000, H. Mizushima leg. GoogleMaps
Description based on Japanese specimens. Body length 956–1235 µm. Head length 113–118 µm. Setae pa and m4 present, but seta aa absent ( Fig. 58A), sensilla as and ps present; seta sp 1.6–1.8 times longer than p; sensilla pp rudimentary. Labral setae present ( Fig. 58B). Seta rs inflated, shorter than sr ( Fig. 58B). On maxillary palpus ( Fig. 58C) sensillum md as long as or slightly longer than ml. Digits on galea similar to each other in shape and length ( Fig. 58D). Mandible with two apical and one subapical teeth ( Fig. 58E). Clypeal apodemes thick ( Figs. 58A, B). Pseudoculus circular, 13 µm long, without inner structure ( Fig. 58F), PR = 9.
Foretarsus length ( Figs. 58G, H) 88–93 µm; claw 19–20 µm, TR = 4.6–5.0; empodium 18–20 µm, EU = 0.9– 1.0; sensillum s same length as claw. Sensillum t1 halfway between α 3 and α 3', BS = 1.0–1.1; t2 thin; t3 reaching base of α 7; a not reaching base of γ 2; b linear; c not surpassing base of γ 3; d slightly broadened and long, reaching nearly to base of f2; e and g spatulate and long; f1 thin, surpassing base of γ 5; f2 thick, almost reaching level of δ 6; a' reaching level of α 3’; b'1 broadened, surpassing base of δ 4'; b'2 thin, reaching base of t3; c' at almost same level with α 6, broadened and surpassing base of α 7. Length of middle tarsus 41–45 µm, length of claw 14–15 µm; hind tarsus 53–54 µm, claw 16 µm; empodia of both tarsi short, shorter than 1/5 of claw length ( Fig. 58I), 1–3 µm long; on hind tarsus ( Fig. 58I) D2 and D4 spine-like, D4 thicker than D2, but more slender than D5.
Tracheal camerae short and distally contracted ( Fig. 58J). Central lobe sinuate, inner lines incised ( Fig. 58K). Laterostigmata II–IV distinct ( Fig. 58L), II with a faint spore, III–IV without inner structure. On female squama genitalis ( Fig. 58M) caput processus thin and vent towards median of stylus, corpus processus dissolved, filum processus short, accessory sclerotization present. Male squama genitalis with short basiperiphallar setae.
Chaetotaxy as in Table 24. On thoracic tergites II–III, P1a seta-like, posterior to P1–P2; P2a halfway between P2 and P3. P1a on abdominal tergite I, P1a and P2a on II–VI and P2a on VII filiform and longer than P1; P1a on VII sensillum-like, shorter than one-fifth length of P1; these sensilla situated at hind margin. On tergite VIII ( Fig. 58N) P1a' without basal dilatation and at almost same level with or slightly anterior to P2; P2a linear.
Remarks. The foretarsus (88–93 µm long) of Japanese specimens was slightly shorter than Chinese one (98– 104 µm) (cf. Yin, 1999; Zhang, 1983), but this difference should be regarded as an individual variation.
Distribution. China (Guangdong), and new to Japan (Yonaguni Island, Okinawa)
