Type-locality. Surroundings of the hydroeletric powerplant AHE Cachoeirão, Juruena River , Sapezal municipality, state of Mato Grosso, Brazil.

Distribution and habitat. Bachia didactyla is endemic to enclaves of open vegetation in southern Amazonia , occurring only in Brazil ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ). It is known from the states of Rondônia and Mato Grosso. As usual for Bachia and other fossorial or semi-fossorial animals, information about its ecology and habitat is scarce. Gainsbury & Colli (2003) found two specimens in a sandy cerrado enclave.
