Type-locality. Alto Araguaia, Fazenda Bálsamo, state of Mato Grosso, Brazil.

Distribution and habitat. Micrablepharus atticolus is widespread in the Brazilian Cerrado ( Fig 13 View FIGURE 13 ), where it is known from the states of Tocantins, Rondônia, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, and in the Distrito Federal. In Amazonia it occurs in enclaves of open vegetation in southern Rondônia and southeastern Pará states ( Fig. 13 View FIGURE 13 ). Micrablepharus atticolus is terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits both dry and seasonally flooded open grasslands, cerrado sensu stricto, and areas disturbed by anthropic activities (Vieira et al. 2000; Vaz-Silva et al. 2007; Nogueira et al. 2009), where it is found mainly on open sandy soil and in Atta nests (Rodrigues 1996; Gainsbury& Colli 2003; Valdujo et al. 2009).
