Colouration and structure as described by Distant (1918). Face with frontoclypeus except dorsal margin, clypellus, shining black; gena except anterior broad margins black; lora dark brown except paler inner margin basally.
Female genitalia. Seventh sternite longer medially than sixth, lateral angles of posterior margin conical, posterior margins medially strongly produced with median concavity, lateral margins of concavity pointed, area adjacent to median projection deeply concave. Eighth tergite in ventral view extending to half length of pygofer lobe and as wide as pygofer lobe.
Measurement. Female 5.52 mm long, head 2.24 mm wide across eyes, pronotum 2.36 mm wide across pronotum.
Material examined. SRI LANKA: Lectotype ♀ (here designated), ‘ Type H. T’, ‘ Tambila conspersa Dist. type’ ‘ Namanukula, Ceylon, 2.1910’, ‘ Ceylon T. B. Fletcher’ ‘1909 80’ ( BMNH).
Remarks. This species was described from an unknown number of specimens (syntypic) with the following data: ‘ Ceylon; Namunukula (Bainbridgge Fletcher)’. It is known only from the female lectotype which is much more brownish than other species of Tambila , with the scutellum with a small spot near each basal angle and the apex stramineous.
